MentionWallComparison
A Tagembed alternative only if you need an event screen
Tagembed’s site leads with widgets: a hashtag aggregator and social feeds you embed on a website, including X. MentionWall does not embed a widget on your marketing site. It puts an X wall on an event screen and ranks the posts afterwards. If you need a website plugin, this is the wrong alternative.
Tagembed’s pricing page lists a free plan at $0 with 1 feed, 500 views per month, and an update time of 4 days, and a paid plan from $19 per month. Their hashtag aggregator page describes collecting hashtag posts onto a website. A WordPress.org listing describes the same widget idea and has quoted a different free-plan update interval than the pricing page. We cite the pricing page for the numbers and link both so the conflict is visible.
MentionWall’s free tier is not 500 monthly widget views. It is one event, one @handle, one sync of up to 20 posts, and a watermarked public wall. Paid is ₹2,499 or ₹5,999, once, not per month. A paid wall left open updates about every 10 minutes, which is what you want during a meetup and useless if you wanted a website badge that refreshes a few times a week.
Tagembed lists many platforms. MentionWall lists one. A “Tagembed alternative” search often wants a cheaper widget. We are not that. We are an event wall for X with a scoreboard.
Side by side
| Topic | MentionWall | Tagembed |
|---|---|---|
| Price we can cite | ₹2,499 for 1 event, ₹5,999 for 3 (one-time, before any coupon). ₹1,498 less than three single events. Credits last 12 months. | Pricing page: $0 with 1 feed, 500 views/month, 4-day updates; paid plans from $19/month. |
| What it is for | Event screen (/w/) and an organizer scoreboard. | Website widgets and a hashtag aggregator, per their aggregator and pricing pages. |
| Networks | X only. Hashtags, keywords, and @handles. | Their pricing page lists a long set of social and review sources, including X. |
| After the event | Mentions by day, author leaderboard, likes, replies, shares, impressions. Engagement is likes + replies + shares. | Not the product shape we are comparing. Their pages emphasize the embed. |
| Update interval | Each sync is the last 6 hours, up to 20 posts. Paid walls left open sync about every 10 minutes, 40 syncs per event. | Pricing page: 4 days on the free plan. Paid plans list faster intervals. The plugin page has described 48 hours on free. |
When MentionWall fits
- You are running an event and the posts are on X.
- You want a projector link and a scoreboard, not a site plugin.
- You do not want a monthly widget plan.
When it does not
- You want a hashtag feed on a Shopify, WordPress, or marketing site.
- You need reviews from Google, Yelp, or similar. Tagembed lists those. We do not.
- You need several networks.
Questions
Can MentionWall replace a Tagembed website widget?
No. There is no embeddable website widget. The public URL is an event wall.
Is MentionWall $19 a month?
No. $19/month is Tagembed’s published starting paid plan. MentionWall is ₹2,499 or ₹5,999 once, before a coupon, or free within the preview limits.
Why mention the 48-hour vs 4-day conflict?
Their pricing page and their WordPress listing do not describe the free update interval the same way. We don’t pick a winner. We link both.
