How to run a Twitter wall

Twitter wall, tweetwall, live tweet wall
Organizers still search for a Twitter wall, a live tweet wall, a tweetwall, or a live Twitter feed for events. Those phrases describe one job: collect posts about the event from X and put them on a screen the room can read. MentionWall tracks a hashtag, a keyword, or an @handle, stores what X returns, and publishes a public /w/ link. Open it on a projector, a lobby TV, or a laptop beside the stage. Attendees keep posting on X. They do not install anything, and the venue machine stays logged out.
A tweetwall is not a website widget and not a printed backdrop. MentionWall does not post for you or pull Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, or Facebook. If the conversation you want on stage is not on X, the screen stays empty.
Set up a live Twitter wall in minutes
Create one event and name it the way it appears on the slide. Free includes that single event. Paste a Luma link if the RSVP already lives there, or type the name. Add the query next: the event hashtag, a keyword people type without the hash, or the @handle that actually posts. Free events include one @handle. A paid event holds 8 queries, so the tag and a few handles share one wall and one scoreboard.
Hit sync, then copy the public /w/ link onto the venue machine. Keep the organizer view — queries, sync, scoreboard — on your own laptop. There is no staff login on the screen, which matters when AV shares the computer. Each sync reads the last 6 hours and keeps at most 20 posts. A paid wall left open syncs about every 10 minutes, up to 40 syncs. Free is one preview sync. The public wall shows up to 60 stored posts. A two-day event needs the wall open, or another sync, through the program. One pull on the first evening does not include the next afternoon.
What the stage screen shows
The public wall shows the event name, a live indicator, how many posts are stored, and when the last sync landed. Each card is one post: display name, @handle, avatar, how long ago it was posted, the text, an image when the post has one, and the counts X returned for likes, shares, replies, and impressions. The card links to that post on X. The wall renders up to 60 stored posts.
On a wide screen the posts move in three columns, so a lobby can read them without a clicker. On a phone, or when the browser asks for reduced motion, the same posts sit in a static list. Fullscreen hides the header until you move the pointer, which is what you want once the session starts. Free walls add a Powered by MentionWall line. Paid packs remove it.
Moderation on a tweet wall
There is no approval queue, no profanity filter, and no control that hides one post before the room sees it. If someone has to clear every post for a broadcast, this is the wrong product. You control the query and replies. Replies are off unless you turn Allow replies on. Leave them off for original posts only. Read the first sync before doors. If the tag is a meme or last year’s event, change the query.
Mentions by day, authors, and top posts
The scoreboard uses stored posts, not every post on X. Mentions by day bucket that volume in UTC. The author leaderboard ranks handles by post count or by engagement (likes + replies + shares). Sort posts by likes, replies, shares, or impressions, and search a handle. A free preview of 20 posts is a sample. A paid wall left open is fairer, and each sync is still capped.
