MentionWall

Live hashtag feed

A hashtag wall that keeps the live #tag feed on the room screen

A hashtag wall, hashtag social wall, or live hashtag feed is the screen of posts that use your event tag. MentionWall tracks that tag on X, shows it in the room, and ranks the posts it stored. One spelling. No printed backdrop. No Instagram.

How to set up a hashtag wall

  1. 1

    Pick one spelling

Choose a tag you can read from the back row. Check X first so you do not import a meme or last year’s event.

  2. 2

    Add the tag and sync

Create the event and save the hashtag. Paid events can add a keyword and handles, up to 8 queries. Free is one @handle.

  3. 3

Put the live feed on the screen

Open the public /w/ link on the TV. Read the first sync before you fullscreen it. Rank the tag after the event.

What a hashtag wall is

A hashtag wall is the feed you expect when the slide says “post with #YourConf.” People also search for a hashtag social wall, a Twitter hashtag wall, or a live hashtag feed. MentionWall tracks that tag on X and puts matching posts on a public screen, then ranks who used it. The tag is one query type. A paid event can add a keyword or an @handle beside it.

This is not a printed step-and-repeat and not a wedding photo installation. MentionWall does not print a sign, run a camera, or collect Instagram. If guests only use the hashtag on Instagram, the X wall stays empty. Check where people actually post before you pay.

The room and the screen have to agree on one spelling. #MyConf and #MyConference split the posts and make the later leaderboard lie. Pick the tag before doors, put that exact string on the first slide, and add that exact string as the hashtag query.

Choose the tag, then the backups

Use a tag you can read from the back row. Short beats clever. Search X before you print it. If the tag is already a product, a meme, or last year’s event, the wall imports that noise. A keyword query is the fallback when people write the event name and skip the hash. An @handle query follows the host when they forget the tag entirely.

Free includes one @handle. That previews the product. It does not run a weekend of competing tags. Paid events include 8 queries, so the official tag, one keyword, and the handles that matter share one scoreboard. Each sync reads the last 6 hours and keeps at most 20 posts. A paid wall left open syncs about every 10 minutes, up to 40 syncs. Free is one preview sync. The public wall shows up to 60 stored posts.

What the live hashtag feed shows

Posts on screen matched the tag or the other queries you saved. Each card shows the author, @handle, text, an image when the post has one, and likes, shares, replies, and impressions. Up to 60 stored posts. Wide displays move them in three columns. A phone, or reduced motion, shows a static list. A broad tag fills that feed with noise. A specific tag fills it with the event. Free walls carry a watermark. Paid packs remove it.

Moderation for a public hashtag

Hashtags are public, so a popular tag attracts posts you did not ask for. There is no approval queue, no profanity filter, and no hide-one-post control. You control the query and replies. Replies stay off until you turn Allow replies on. Read the first sync before the link goes on the hall TV. If the tag is noisy, change it.

Score the hashtag after the event

Mentions by day are bucketed in UTC. The author leaderboard ranks handles by mention count or by engagement (likes + replies + shares). Sort posts by likes, replies, shares, or impressions, and search a handle. Ranks include stored posts only. One preview of 20 posts is a sample of the tag, not the whole conversation.

Hashtag wall price

Checkout charges ₹2,499 for one event and ₹5,999 for three, before a coupon. The three-event pack is ₹1,498 less than three single events. Credits last 12 months. There is no monthly plan. Free is one event, one @handle, one sync, and a watermark. A coupon changes the Razorpay amount only when it applies. The price in the title and the offers markup is the list price.

Use cases

Conferences

Put one official tag on the opening slide and in the query. Add speaker handles on a paid event so a keynote still lands when the speaker posts from their own account and skips the hash. Two spellings of the conference tag split the leaderboard. Pick one.

Hackathons

Hackathon tags spike at kickoff, demos, and prizes. Mentions by day show those spikes only if you synced through them. A Friday sync does not include Sunday’s demo posts. Track the lab or sponsor handles only if you still have query room after the tag.

College fests

Fest tags collide with club tags, sponsor tags, and last year’s spelling. Preview the official tag before you pay so you can see the noise. Sponsor handles are extra queries on a paid event. If students post the fest on Instagram and not on X, this feed stays empty.

Product launches

Launch tags are short-lived, which suits the sync window. Add a keyword for people who write the product name and skip the hash. The highest-engagement list is the set worth quoting, among posts that were stored, not among every post on X.

Meetups

Meetup tags are usually one word and a city. If the group posts from a personal handle more than from the tag, track that @handle. The free preview is one handle. The hashtag itself is a query on a paid event.

  • One official tag, spelled once, on the slide and in the query
  • Keyword and @handle backups on a paid event
  • Replies off by default so the hashtag feed stays readable across a lobby
  • A paid wall left open updates during the session, not every few days
  • Scoreboard scoped to the posts that tag actually produced here

Questions

What is a hashtag wall?

A live feed of X posts that use your event hashtag, shown on a public screen, plus a scoreboard of the posts that were collected.

What is a live hashtag feed?

The same wall, updating while the event is on. A paid wall left open syncs about every few minutes. It is not a website badge that refreshes every few days.

How many hashtags can I track?

A free event includes one @handle. A paid event includes 8 queries. Those can be hashtags, keywords, or handles, mixed.

Should I track more than one spelling?

Only if people are already using both. Two spellings split the leaderboard. One official tag is easier to read on a slide and on the wall.

Can I moderate a hashtag before it hits the screen?

No. There is no approval queue. Leave replies off, use one specific tag, and read the first sync before you put the link on the TV.

How often does the hashtag wall update?

A paid wall that is open syncs about every 10 minutes, up to 40 syncs. Each sync reads the last 6 hours and keeps at most 20 posts. Free is one preview sync.

What does the scoreboard count?

Posts stored for the event. Mentions by day (UTC), an author leaderboard, and engagement (likes + replies + shares), plus sorts for likes, replies, shares, and impressions.

How much is a hashtag wall?

Free to try. ₹2,499 for one event, ₹5,999 for three events, charged by Razorpay before any coupon. Credits last 12 months. The watermark stays on the free wall.
